We Believe In Girls
I have to say that the site We Believe In Girls by Barbie is absolutely adorable. Barbie plays a big role in almost every girls life.
Did she play a role in yours?
The funny thing is that when I got the call from Stacey telling me about this site, I had just been speaking with my mother the other day about Barbie. Fil, my mother and I were all talking about the past and my mom was telling him about how horrible I was with Barbie Dolls. I was going through the hair cutting stage – as every mother reading this cringes – oh, I know how bad that is!
Every Barbie I owned had a head that was shaved to the point where you could see the holes where the hair came through. I still have one of those dolls and it’s actually a Christmas Tree ornament my mother still displays! She calls it Susan Powter In a Sleigh, because she really does look like Susan Powter. I remember the day I got it and remember cutting off all the hair; thank you McDonald’s for that lovely present. Happy Meals rocked as a kid.
What are your memories of Barbie? Do you have any? Did you play with them?

Yes, Dear, I will always display that Barbie Doll. It’s a reminder to me of your little girl days. Some mother’s have sparkley Christmas decorations, I have a plastic, Susan Powter-type, Winter Wonderland Barbie. It’s one of a kind, anyone jealous?
I LOVE MY MOMMY
I love my mommy too!
You’re hilarious, Head Mommy, seriously! I remember Barbie’s, majorly. We would dress them up, take pictures of them, etc.. I guess you could say we were nerds.
I still have my Barbie and the box she came in, along with the brochure for the clothes you could buy which included a poodle skirt & several lovely outfits featuring pillbox hats. Her ponytail is in pristine condition because I never went through a hair-cutting phase and my mother told me not to pull the ponytail apart or she would have horrid hair from that point on. I believed her and complied.
I did not have Barbies while growing up. I had toy trucks, squirt guns and a basketball.
I don’t have too many memories of Barbie. We had a few (I came from a family of all girls) but I was not all that into her. One of my sisters did trim the made of my My Little Pony which really made me angry.
My mother used to make my little ponies fart when she didn’t want to play with them since she knew how it annoyed me and I’d not let her touch them for awhile. AND IT wASNT FUNNY THEN EITHER
LMAO!!
I loved Barbies and so do my girls! My husband and I went through a period where we didn’t want the girls to play with them Barbie is so…mature-looking. But we decided the kids aren’t looking at that anyway, just having fun.
We lived in a rural place with just my sister and I so Barbies were such a part of our childhood. They had rock bands, dated the Hardy Boys and GI Joe, oh the memories we had. We had our share of shaved Barbies too but they don’t hang on a tree as a reminder! Thanks for the memories!
