The Stress Answer by Dr. Frank Lawlis
I personally have not been diagnosed as depressed. I have, however had panic and anxiety attacks. Big ones, full blown ones. The kind that makes you feel like you are going to explode out of your own skin if someone comes near you or talks to you. Why did I get them? At the time who knew? But, Dr. Lawlis in depth, tells us why, how and when to expect them and what to look for as triggers that bring them on.
He also lets us know how to prevent them. I had heard of a few of the techniques he tells us about, but some I was surprised to hear, but made perfect sense to me. He also gives real patient episodes and how they defused the attacks.
It goes on to talk about the medication world, the pros and cons and how medications are handed out like candy by some doctors to mask the problem instead of helping the patient prevent them, and give what seem like simple exercises to help you through an attack, and actual games to help prevent the attacks. Games like Chess, Scrabble, Clue, Jigsaw Puzzles, Checkers just to name a few. Stress is a big reality in our world today, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
So for anyone who has stress and it just keeps getting a little worse, or you have never experienced it before, this book can help, even if it is to open your eyes to whats going on, maybe with a friend or family member who have no clue. I know it has opened my eyes, and I am that much more aware as to my own stress, and the stress in my family, and friends. So yes, I definitely suggest this book as a should have on your shelf. I am glad I have mine. It also has me checking out Dr. Lawlis’ other books , this guy knows his stuff!
