Review: John Hinson CD

still_cover.jpgWhen John Hinson first emailed me I was curious to know more about his CD. I had read the email as soon as I got up. The fact that I was very groggy and still couldn’t see straight was key that I wasn’t fully awake. However I went to the website and listened to the music. I was peaceful. In fact that was the first word that came to my mind the moment I listened to his CD. I was excited when I received it in the mail. I immediately ripped all the songs off the CD to put them on my Ipod. I love classical music, my favourite is Vanessa Mae but for kids it would make them wild vs. Hinson’s calming effect.

I went through all the pages of his website and the fact that he is a family man made it even easier to enjoy his music. You can hear the love for his family through the music, which was one of my favourite parts of his compositions. The fact that I can hear the family devotion and the creativity through it was beautiful.

He allows you to listen to the FULL CD on his website. This is definitely the best preview before you buy option I’ve ever seen.

I don’t know which of your tracks were favourite but I have to say I loved #4 Superhero and #8 Sweet Love.

I actually like this since its a lot better then the crap they play at work. I have it playing low through the computer, so I have something nice to listen to and to calm me down after angry customers! Thats always great right?

The price of the CD is also really nice. Its affordable. The CD is only $9 + 5 for shipping and handling. This of course is great for everyones budget. He also puts in some customer testimonials on his site. I read them and didn’t even think about some of the things you can do with a type of CD like this until after reading them. Some of them are teachers for naptime, or even when you’re instructing your students. They do have research showing that if you study listening to classical music you retain better. My history teacher did that for us throughout the entire semester. I really enjoyed that class and was saddened when she had left. I had registered for her course the next year because of it.

“I have been meaning to tell you how much I love your piano music – Sara and I listen to it every night. She has started this new phase where she does not want to sleep in her bed, so bedtime has been difficult. We listen to the entire thing almost every night and it calms her down (and me!).” – M. Davis

“I’ve recently listened to your CD “A Still Moment” and it is really beautiful piano music. What a gifted pianist you are. ”

“Our kids go to sleep everynight with John’s piano music and it is perfect for traveling (don’t leave home without it!). Best of all when we hear it over the baby monitor we love listening to it.” – S. Nelson

“The Second grade teachers truly enjoy the music of pianist John Hinson in class. It helps students during quiet work time to stay focused and allows ideas to flow during writing time.” – G. Peak Elementary

“My daughter is hooked on John’s piano music and uses it at her daycare to calm the preschoolers as they take their afternoon nap..”

“I have to tell you…..I went back to Seattle right after New Years and stayed w/ my cousins, Tom, Karen and Ben ( who will be 2 this month, every night they still play John’s CD. It’s been a part of their nightly routine ever since that little guy arrived. They wanted you to know how much they love it.”

I definitely think everyone should give it a listen. It’s worth the $14 buy if you have a rambunctious one Jenny. The reason I say this is I read her story about when she took Mini Buff to the local Mall. If you’re a reader of her site you know, it was hysterical. But I think the music might calm him down. As I do call her child a BEAST, as does her sister. They do say music calms the savage beast. Try it through his website see if your kids enjoy it. The trying is free! :)

  2. Thanx, make sure you let mini buff listen to the cd.

  3. I absolutely love when artists put their music on their sites for visitors to enjoy–for free. Gives me that nice, warm, fuzzy feeling such as the time I went to an artist’s site to buy merch and was happily surprised by a sliding scale payment. It makes the fact that the artist is in it for the music and for the love of music and not for the money, which is something I actually look for and praise in music artists. Fantastic article, wonderful music.

  4. I definitely checked out the site and I really like it. I will bookmark it for a next kids birthday party!

  5. i got the chance to check it out. it also helps a lot for an artist if they’re generous enough at least to have a preview of their songs on their site. just like John Hinson’s CD, people who have already listened to the songs just like me, makes it easy to decide of buying it.

Fantastic article, wonderful music. Well, there’s nothing better than having a real person teach you the stuff then trying to learn it on your own. Trust me. Saves you a whole bunch of headaches down the line. And plus, a teacher actually teaches you stuff you wouldn’t learn in a book.

  11. What a great preview, the whole CD this does not happen very often.
