Percy, Perfectly Imperfect Chicken

percy_coverWhat a charming book! I sat down with my grandson Jordon, and he read this to me and when we were done, he opened it and read it again! The book was about a baby chick just hatched into the Hen coop, and all the hens inspect the newest members of the coop to make sure everything is in order, and no differences. Well, when Percy seems to have red tinting his wings and not the familiar brown the hens get all ruffled and want to peck Percy for being different!  Well, as Percy grows, they find he has a lot more differences than they first thought, but Percy stands his ground, and shows the hens that even they too have differences they were hiding from everyone, and that it was ok to be different, and how boring it is to all be exactly alike!! The illustrations were just beautiful!  I also found out that the author Rick Rieser used a site called fastpencil.com for his book from start to finish. So being naturally curious I went to the site and checked it out! Wow, for anyone out there who has a book in their dreams, I suggest you go to www.fastpencil.com  and look around, not only can you start, write, find an illustrator, but you have a few options on how to get it published! It was really so cool! I now am going to sit down and see if there is a children’s book in me! Who knows, PJ Mommy may be reviewing and sharing my book next!! Maybe yours too!!!
