On the road again..

gps-trackingBeing married to a truck driving can be exciting at times, but can also be downright scary. For instance, one of the guys training below my husband got lost trying to deliver freight. He had no clue where he was at, which is never any good, but luckily the company they work for puts GPS Tracking in each and every single one of their training trucks.  Can you believe how far technology has come in the few years since I received my license?  Is it not amazing that you can track an individual down, using a little device, to help them find their way again?

Although my husband and I do not “own” a GPS tracking system, we have had the opportunity to witness the device at work first hand.  One of the devices I would most like to see up close and maybe even test out someday is LandAirSea’s newest GPS system, The GPS TracKing®.  From what I understand about this little contraption is that it is not much larger than the two AA batteries that power it, it operates up to 80 hours on a battery cycle and can be connected to your vehicle’s main power supply.  And most importantly, it does all of this at no monthly service fee.

You’re probably wondering how all of this actually works, so please let me explain.  The data is committed to flash memory in the GPS TracKing®. You then download via USB port to personal computer using the LAS Past-Track software package (included free with the GPS TracKing® purchase). There are three data viewing options: a daily text log; route display over animated digital street map; or route display on satellite imagery with Google Earth interface.

While this may all sound a bit “high-tech”  for some, I assure you that anyone can use this device to their advantage.
