Louder Than Words by Jenny McCarthy

Louder Than Words

What a wonderful book! I laughed and cried from cover to cover. As a Grandmother of an Autistic grandson, I knew exactly what Jenny was writing about. My grandson was diagnosed at the age of 5, but we had our suspicions. I think we were all in denial. Jordon has a mild case, but it was heartbreaking when my daughter would say”I just want him to look in my eyes and call me Mommy, or respond when I say I love you Jordon”. But for the parent, relative or even friend of an autistic child this book is priceless. Jenny does the work of researching online and through extensive trial and error on her part to help her son, and nothing short of God is going to stop her. Her love for her son is evident and shines through. You feel her sorrow and her elation as she learns step by step what is happening to her son and how she is going to help him “through the window”. She gives her opinion on childhood vaccines and the possible link to autism. She gives a list of invaluable resources to check out and has basically taken the time and energy out of looking for these things by on your own. I have checked out the list in the back of her book, and am short of amazed at the information that is out there, but who knew? I certainly didn’t until I read Jenny’s book. All I can say is thank you Jenny, for a book of hope, faith and knowing there is a ray of sunshine at the end of the storm, and also for your love you put into this book, for all the mothers and fathers who don’t have the knowhow to do it. You are in my opinion a lifesaver. My Grandson Jordon is now in first grade with a wonderful Teacher, Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist and is doing very well.

Rating: ★★★★★ I would give this book a 10 but we only rate up to 5.
