Living Healthy

Healthy is a way of life for many people; exercise, nutritional food, a disciplined lifestyle. Unfortunately, I am not part of this group. Working, family, and school have taken over my life and I prefer to sleep when I get an extra thirty minutes than take that time to workout. So, I can say that I am definitely not disciplined when it comes to taking care of my body the way I should.

When I do give up a few minutes to try and take control to learn how to be a bit healthier it is like the New Year’s resolutions that I make, eventually “gone with the wind.” So, this year I have vowed to not make a resolution, but instead to create monthly goals AND I will try to make a goal of creating a better health schedule for myself.

We hear constantly, “you must take care of you first before you can take care of your family.” I always seem to put family first and when I get around to me, I am too tired and just want to sleep. Well, while perusing the millions of newsletters that I get in my e-mail, I came across one that offered a free program to help teach you a better way of living – eating better, including exercise, and even better, helping me to reduce stress. Hallelujah! Free and less stress – two things that I love.

The Healthy Living Program, offered through iVillage Total Health, is a free lifestyle program, so no monthly or yearly fees associated with it. The program is a complete health program helping you understand about nutrition, your cholesterol, blood pressure, exercise, and managing stress. As a woman, I find this to be a great program to work with because heart disease is the number 1 killer of American women.

So keeping that in mind, I am taking this in as a health approach and not another weight loss program that will never stick. Take a look at the program. If it’s not for you, you have lost absolutely nothing, but if you think it might be something that could help you, talk with your Physician about starting a program the will give you a healthy new you.

Pajama Mommy offers this for informational purposes only. This information should not be considered medical advice and prior to starting any new health regimen, you should consult your Physician.

  5. Hi Dannie, great post. Well it’s really hard to start something that you’re not used to do. Weight loss programs are fun, especially when combined with exercise. I know it’s hard to find the “perfect” program but we need to remember that being healthy is not for ourselves but also for the people around us, loving and needing us. Resistance training is the key to any weight loss program, and yet, most of us don’t take the time to do this. But wait, exercise like this can be done without leaving your home, and be fun as well. Small gadgets like jumping ropes, or even computer games can help you too. Inexpensive home gym too can resolve this issue. Like what workfromhomemomma said, it is the best investment you can give to yourself.
