Leaf Placemats

How cool! These awesome placemats featured on Woman’s Day Web site are made with love for the fall holidays. Not only will they serve a functional purpose, they are decorative as well!

These Leaf Placemats are a great seasonal idea, but using these instructions, you can make placemats not just for the various holidays, but you can make them all year long and festive too!

Just by changing out the leaves, you can make your placemats completely you. Use pictures of tree ornaments for Christmas, Menorahs for Hanukkah, hearts for Valentine’s Day or some simple spring flowers for daily placemats. Endless possibilities!

Hey, neat idea! Pair this idea with the Cut-Out Coasters and you can celebrate everyday by looking at great decorations from your kiddos.

Materials:

  • Construction paper or felt in assorted colors
  • Fabric glue
  • Clear Con-Tact paper (optional)

Instructions:

1. Trace or draw a leaf onto paper and cut out to use as a pattern.

2. Trace leaf shape onto colored felt or construction paper (you’ll need about 12 leaves).

3. Arrange into a rectangle so that the leaves overlap each other with open spaces between them.

4. Glue leaves together where they overlap. If using construction paper, protect with Con-Tact paper or laminate.

This project is brought to you by Woman’s Day Web site.
