Integrity

Integrity means: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values

Okay, so you go along in life doing what you believe is the right thing. You’re nice to people, you don’t kick cats, and you smile and give good tips to those serving you. Basically what I’m trying to say is you feel you’re a good person. Are you with me on this? Good. Then Bam! You get smacked with somebody screwing you over. What’s up with that?

This has to be the number one question I get asked all the time in regards to the Law of Attraction and karma. The only answer I can come up with is that at some point, sometime, somewhere, you had it coming. I know it sounds harsh. You may be gasping right now with “How dare you?!” But the Universe has rules and we all have to live by them. I don’t believe there’s some get out of jail free card. I don’t believe that when we did something really, really nice last year that it will erase the crappy thing we did yesterday, that in our opinion wasn’t that bad. We didn’t commit murder or involve the police in a high-speed, televised chase. But we did do something that wasn’t the right thing to do.

Now, what exactly is the right thing to do? Oh boy, another good question. We all know folks or know of folks (sometimes relatives) who just don’t give a damn how they treat people and still things turn out well for them. Or do they? I know people who can write a check for almost anything they want, but their health has seen much better days, and we won’t even discuss the relationship problems that are whirling all around them with their children (possibly grandchildren) down the road.

But their fate is not our decision. Many times I’ve fantasized as to what punishment they should receive if I ran the Universe. Standing naked in the snow begging for my forgiveness is a good start. However, I’d feel bad afterwards and besides, there’d be more karma in the debt column.

I do know this: I keep my word. That’s all a person has. And if there is anything I can learn from an experience is that I have integrity and I will stand behind what I say. I will own up to what I did and I will be a stand up person. I won’t run with my tail between my legs. If I attract a bad experience into my life then so be it. But I can grow and learn from a bad experience. I can be a woman of my word.

Can you be?
