IBakeSale – No need to join the PTA

IBakeSale

I have been talking to one of the owners of IBakeSale about their site. Actually, I end up talking to them on a daily basis. One of their founders is absolutely hilarious and just a genuinely nice person. The site is great. The idea that they are “selling” is great to the point where I even signed up and decided to make something of my own.

Basically, every mom who comes to this site knows how much of a pain in the butt it can be when fund raising time starts to roll around. I hated doing it as a kid and I am more than positive my mother hated it even more. As a mom, you get stuck with the brunt of it all, since most people find they can’t let their kids go door to door anymore trying to sell wrapping paper and candy, and parents have to bring it to work or buy a ridiculous amount just for that cheap prize the kids lose 5 minutes after getting it.

I am actually going to present this program to my old private high school as a way to help them get fund raising for their classes. I went to public school and transferred to private school once I hit high school. I realized the teachers are overpaid at my school and aren’t even bothering to teach… how lovely, right? Well, what about the places where people still care for the kids? What about breast cancer funds? AIDS funds? Children’s hospital funds? These are all important and we don’t always have the money for donating, but we do tend to do a lot of shopping.

IBakeSale has made this a heck of a lot easier. Basically, you sign up for a FREE account, put your MOST used debit/credit card in their SECURED account center and go shopping through their long long list of partners. You not only can enjoy discounts, but the fact is, they actually listen when you talk to them! If you want a store they will do their best to add it. They add new stores all the time. I’ve sent my demand list to them and am always updating it frequently as I am making a “Donate to me” fund so that my mother can donate whenever she shops. (Don’t you love your parents?)

You can make a fund for your local school, or for a charity event. I’ve created a Pajama Mommy Fund which, once we’ve reached a point of funding, we’ll ask the readers to pick out of a list of a few places (each time a different donation place) to donate the charity funds to. (We will wait until it’s at least $500, preferably $1,000 though, so we can look like winners! Woo!)

It really is a great idea. Let’s say you’re friends and family don’t have the ability to hand you money and you have to pay off hospital bills or health care bills for your wee ones… get them to sign up and it adds up! They send you or your charity a check once they’ve received at least $100 dollars. It really is a good cause.

I’m waiting till they go instant for some payments via PayPal. Would make it easier! Check it out, sign up for the Pajama Mommy Community fund, please, and let us get cracking on the donations!
