How could you not adore this sweet little bear with his green overalls and missing button? I was a little girl when he “debuted” and I still love him! He’s quiet, gentle, and it’s no wonder that the little girl Lisa from his book fell in love with him too. This 40th Anniversary Edition book by Don Freeman really is an exceptional book. It includes eight pages of material that has never been seen before, and includes copies of the author’s sketches and notes. The anniversary edition that comes with a little bear is the perfect gift.
Yes, the book is very dated due to clothing, etc., but children don’t seem to notice that stuff, and it really doesn’t matter anyways. Kids love this story – it’s a classic.
The world can be a scary place for kids, but a kind little bear in green overalls that just wants someone to take him home from the department store is a loving story to sit and read with your children. I do hope you invest in this book for the child in your life.
