When shopping for any holiday or special occasion, I often time find myself at a loss of what to buy for specific people in my family. What do you buy great-grandparents or grandparents who have everything they want and/or need? If your grandparents are anything like mine- they have enough clothing to dress an army and enough gadgets to keep them entertained for years to come. I usually try to get them gift cards for gas and their favorite restaurant each year for their travels south, but even that gets old after a while.
Then it hit me! Why not give them the gift of memories? Every winter they leave Michigan to head to Florida and call home because they miss their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They always offer us a place to stay if it means we’ll be bringing down the kiddos. So for those times when traveling south isn’t an option, why not give them a 6″x8″ Photo Book or Movie of Memories to hold them through the winters?
CVS/pharmacy can help you make your photographs into a video or a memory book! By visiting a CVS store that offers one hour photo service, you can create memories your loved ones will cherish for a lifetime!
Each movie costs $14.99 and can be created at the Kodak Picture Kiosk. Each DVD can hold up to 40-60 of the customers favorite photographs. You can then add music from a selection of songs by top-names artists ranging from “I’m So Excited” by the Pointer Sisters to “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. Customers are also given the opportunity for professional-style pan and zoom effects to add motion to their pictures, making it different from your standard slide show. Once your video is complete, you can print a picture from the DVD selection to create a personalized cover image.
If creating a movie is not an option, you might want to try the Photo Books. In-store photo books can be created within minutes and picked up at the store the very same day. All the consumer has to do is arrive at their local CVS/pharmacy’s photo kiosk with their digital media (memory card, CD or USB flash drive). Pages are customizable by rearranging the pictures, changing the size of the photos, adding text and choosing from a variety of backgrounds. Books are ten pages long and can feature up to six pictures per page. If ten pages does not seem like enough, you may purchase up to ten additional pages. Pricing for the photo books range from $5.99 for a 4″x6″ book that holds 36 picutres, $12.99 for a 6″x8″ book that holds 54 pictures and $14.99 for a 8″x10″ book that holds 72 pictures.
Creating the photo book was easy and fun to do. My grandmother, who is as far from computer savvy as one can be, created her own photo book. Just be prepared to spend at least 20 minutes to a half hour creating your book, as the possibilities are endless! You will be amazed at the high-quality photo books you can create in no time at all.
