Belisi Does Coporate Blog Do You?

Every week you know I highlight something new from Belisi just for fun! This week instead of talking to you about their items I’m going to share their business site. One of the most important things I’ve found on their site is they have a blog. I specifically wanted to highlight Belisi Fashions for this because of the fact that I think ALL businesses should have a blog no matter how big or how small!

First off going to www.belisi.com for the first time you wouldn’t see they have a blog, I find this a bit of a draw back since I always want to read a corporations blog. So, momprenuers listen up! It is always a good thing to have your blog blasted loud and proud. It humanizes a company. If you cant run it yourself hire someone to. It brings more personality and down-to-earth ability to your company. This is something you definitely want.

Granted bloggers don’t make up everyone in the world but we are gaining on them. Heck if my mom blogs your mom probably does too! ;) But you may be going there to check out their famous Belisi Ties, or Belisi Scarves. Belisi.com has a lot to offer but I’m going to focus on something new for you guys to learn. How to run a business blog two ways.

Belisi Fashions has a lot of things going for them they have a great website, great products and frequent shopper points. Those all get A’s in my book. Aside from that they have a very loved blog, in the sense that they post in it frequently. However, unless you click on an obscure link at the bottom you would never know they have a blog! However I click everything on a website so thats how I found out.

Their blog offers two things, the occasional subpage to their main site. It also is a running press release. This is a good way to do a blog type A. There is only one author whom I believe is Peter Belisi himself. He does a good job at humanizing the blog, with little widgets. The blog is in itself a little messy with tons of faves, but scroll down and you’ll get to the meaty parts.

Peter Belisi offers a little more to his fashion home blog than other coporate blogs might. Offering his own StyleHive widget for his must have items. To offering Fashion Tip Today. Reading it as of today it gives a little history of the oh so lush Birkin Bag. If you don’t know what that is..let’s just say its couture of couture for some people.

He also has it as a running press release which means it is only really updated when need be if he is highlighted around the web. This is of course the first way to run a business blog.

There is one more way which I find to be useful and humanizing a company even more. You can have a business blog but have many writers on it. The best part of a business is building a community. You are branding yourself within a community whether its the community of 20 somethings or 6 year olds. You are going to be known within that community. So if you are new to the scene and you’re adding a blog for a bit of home grown feel, try asking some name brand bloggers to guest post on your blog with some fun things that relate to your categories the best they can. This allows you to have some more of the sought after bloggers on your blog, and gives you some blogging credibility and elbow rubbing!

All and all Peter Belisi runs his blog very well, its a little under loved in the not so many people seem to know about it, but for all his additives to the side bar let you know there is a human being behind the company not a nanobot.

  1. I agree with you that access to a corporation’s blog should be easy and do not like having to search for it on their ‘corporate brochure’ site. They’re so boring and static. Blogs show what’s live and current. I had a look at Belisi’s blog and it is pretty cool. More people should know about it.
