Baby Gifts Boutiques & Momprenuers

What is the best way to earn money? Selling something you paid nothing for right? Well here is an idea for those people who always wanted to own their own boutique but cannot YET afford to hold stock for their up-coming company. DROP-SHIP. This is a term we’re all familiar with. Its where someone orders something and it is sent to that person with your name tag all over it, but from the wholesaler and not you. The site GotoBaby.com offers the ability to drop ship, they are a really good start. If you goto their wholesale section it really gives you some good info before signing up.

I have signed up! I want to have a boutique where eventually I can also stock my own goods but granted I don’t have enough money yet to plunk down on products that if they don’t sell, I could have paid off more of my debt with that cash. We all think of that …afterwards. I have big plans for my store but everyone needs a foot in the door sort of speak. You want to start earning a profit before you have to spend any large sums of money.

The money you’d be plunking into a boutique would be the basics:

Domain Name, Webhosting, Template for store and a resale certificate! Keep everything on the up and up!

I personally prefer to have a shopping cart on my server (even if I have to install a completely different one) than having it hosted somewhere else only for the idea that I have more control over it. However, I have heard great things from a lot of companies about Yahoo!’s shopping cart program. You can even set up your shop 100% through paypal etc.

So you may just have to plunk away some basic hosting and domain costs (but thats why you should ALWAYS invest in a reseller) but if you really work your store you can definitely make the money back.

There is one more complaint I have heard about drop shipping, which is if you want to send your customers your own papers in their order. You can send it to them separate to their order or even prior to shipment with a little note saying thank you, your package is on its way!

So definitely start your research! You will be seeing my shop VERY soon!

    1. We have recently had a baby and my wife simply adores her (as do I of course). However the discussion of “going back to work” has come up. My wife, who is a natural mother, has been taking care of our little one so far, no babysitters, no nannies. I just managed to catch your “drop ship” article on your site and it has kind of enlightened me. I did not know that was how drop ship worked. I mean I see power sellers on ebay with tens and hundreds of thousnads of feedback selling multitudes of items and have quite wondered how they do it. I think ith a little time investment my wife could operate a drop ship operation quite easily. I myself run a web design company and web hosting company as well as several uccessful web site, so I think you have just solved the little puzzle for us. DROP SHIP! Thanks!!
