“Unique” Treatments to Help Boost Immune System and Stay Healthy During Flu Season
Starting to feel a little under the weather? Beat the sniffles, sneezes and coughs with these two unique treatments from ChicagoHealers.com Practitioners Dr. Steve Arculeo and Dr. Martha Howard. With just a few simple steps and ingredients found at home, you’ll be able to boost your immune system and fight flu symptoms naturally. Dr. Arculeo suggests mixing up a “Scallion and Ginger Tonic” cocktail for a real full body detox and immune system booster:
Directions:
- Combine 1 bunch of chopped scallions, 6 coin size slivers of fresh ginger, Shoyu (quality soy sauce) and 4 cups of water in a sauce pan and bring to boil
- Lower to a simmer and reduce by half so you are left with two cups.
- Drink both cups while hot.
- Soak in a very warm bath.
- Get out and wear sweatshirt and sweat-pants to bed.
“I have used this successfully with many patients over the years. You will break a sweat during the night and wake up feeling much better,” says Dr. Arculeo. Dr. Howard swears by her “Hot Water Bath” for colds and flu:
Directions:
- Take 1000 milligrams of Vitamin C with 8 ounces of water.
- Fill a tub with very hot water, as hot as your feet and legs can stand, and sit on edge of tub with feet and legs in water.
- Wrap a blanket around you until you sweat.
- Add more hot water as it begins to cool, and sit at least 20-30 minutes.
“A hot environment increases your circulation and kills viruses. Fevers are part of the body’s defense against microbes,” says Dr. Howard. “I have had colds go away completely in less than 12 hours with this method!”

The use of antioxidants especially vitamin C, is very
essential for detoxification since they are involved with the detoxification
of toxins. Vitamin C is also involved
with many other important bodily functions, like collagen formation, wound
healing, energy production and fighting off colds (viruses).
