9 Things You Need On Your Advertising Page

advertisersAdvertising on your site is something everyone dreams of doing. Easy money some think? Well it is not easy as you may think it is. First you have to make your site appealing, then you have to make sure your advertisers are happy and so forth.

However, if you think you are ready I am here to help!

Here is my top 9 things you need to have on your advertising page. Some are things I still have to do to my advertising page but I am in the process of remodeling it! So its all the do what I say not what I do. I will be practicing what I preach, just one step at a time!

1. A description of your site.

Why do you need this? Well you don’t want people who just look at your site and see its popular and just buy advertising. You want people to know a brief description of your aim with the website.

2. Approximate figures of your audience & Primary Interests

Advertisers want to know who is visiting your site. You may have a parenting site for moms but if you’re audience are only single women with no kids, why would they advertise parenting goods on your site? Add polls, visit peoples websites who are commenting. This all helps in you figuring out your audience. See what posts get the most comments this also helps.

3. Page Rank, Alexa Rank & Technorati Rank

A little knowledge in the wrong hands doesn’t help anyone. People seem to think that certain things mean more than others or if you have a crappy alexa rank your site sucks. It just means people goto your site but they don’t use the alexa tool bar! Having this listed on your site is easy access for the advertisers. Just make sure you update it regularly.

4. The ways they can sponsor your site

People may want their product on your site but think they have to pay to get it on there. That isn’t always true, you should let them know if you accept product reviews, contests, sponsored posts, text link ads, banner advertisements etc. Let them know whats available in sizes, how many and if it is cheaper to go through you direct. ALWAYS MAKE IT CHEAPER :D . You need to be specific though, if you do product reviews and you don’t want to mail it back and want to keep the products ask for non returnable samples to be made

5. Contact Form

Having an easily accessible contact form has increased my number of inquiries. People find it easier once they’ve read all the information just to send away to find out my prices. Make sure you have a working contact form with no akismet spam catcher. I have found that some spam catching programs don’t work and people have issues with them. I don’t use them on my site because it deters people from doing it if they’ve failed the spam catcher multiple times.

6. The number of outgoing links on your site.

The reason why is a lot of people check the outbound links on the site. This means your links can be either lower or higher. Pajama mommy’s will show up as over 150 links but there really aren’t that many. This includes to subsections of our website which people don’t look at. They just look at the number. If you have an explanation of the number of actual outgoing links vs. the internal links to sub content of your site this will safe you a lot of hassle!

7. Your website statistics.

Even if it isn’t a picture of your actual stats. Giving an advertiser some idea of how many people are coming and going throughout your website that allows them to expect it and deters people who are looking for more and you can’t deliver. Remember your stats are your stats, if something happens and their scripts don’t show the same number that is not something you a responsible for. If your stats are showing the steady rate that they were before for impressions that is okay. Some scripts don’t count every individual impression. So you can’t be held responsible for an outside script.

8. Testimonials

Testimonials can be from people who’ve advertised on your site or not. I place emails from readers who’ve loved the posts or wrote a post based on the fact that they read it first on pajama mommy. This has also boosted my advertising inquiries.

9. Payment Types Accepted!

Letting people know you can process their payment online and offline is very important! Making sure that they know you ONLY accept online payments or ONLY accept offline payments save time and hassle!
