The Green Glass Company

vase_cobalt_springtable_clear_product.jpgThe Green Glass Company is absolutely delightful. I was able to choose which glasses I received, and I took such delight. I chose the Cobalt collection and asked for tumblers. We don’t drink alcohol so the other glasses would have been wasted on us. I was also sent the vase you see to the left.

You may be wondering, what is the big deal about a glass company? I mean, who can’t buy glasses at their local Target? Well you can, but you can’t get these.

If you are eco-friendly, or aren’t but are thinking about it, this is definitely an awesome twist on eco-friendly. The idea is something I’ve never even thought of. The Green Glass Company takes old glass bottles like wine bottles or liquor bottles and reuses them to make vases, goblets, tumblers, etc. This is actually an amazing idea. I was reading through their FAQ and PR release and it is amazing the things they do.

“Our bottles come from the waste stream and are sorted and supplied by our partner network. Sometimes, for large corporate orders, we have been supplied ‘resort’ glass which are those bottles that have failed quality control at a glass manufacturer and are destined to be crushed.”

I think it is great that a company found something. Now you can recycle your bottles in a unique way. There is, however, a possibility that they cannot use them to create glasses. All products have to be checked first and the cost could be between $18-50 per glass, and they recommend sending more bottles since they may only be able to make an 8 piece set from two dozen bottles. Their tumblers are sold in sets of 4 and they cost $32 a set. I loved my tumblers, they are such a thick heavy glass. I get nervous since some of the glasses we have purchased over the years are very thin and I hate it since I am such a klutz. These are so nice since they are heavy. I can tell you, this is something you should grab if a intruder comes into your house. I think this thing would hurt more than a baseball bat!tumbler_cobalt_clear_product.jpg Plus, it’s dishwasher safe! ;)

What is great is they show you the types of bottles they are looking for, so you can see the original product before they change it around. I think that is awesome. Taking a bottle and not even realizing you can turn it into a glass and a small vase. The creativity this company has is amazing. It is definitely worth every penny. They are definitely Jammy Approved.

  2. I saw these in person. They are beautiful. I’d like to purchase a full set of the tumblers; the vase if perfect for just 1 or 2 flowers. Perhaps a fat yellow rose.

  8. That is really nice. Green stationery is another way to keep one’s carbon footprint to a minimum.

When I got married, we used a great store for wedding invitations which I think followed the same policies.
